A hilarious love letter to classic musical theater, The Drowsy Chaperone begins when a devoted theater fan puts on the cast recording of his favorite fictional 1920s musical—and the show suddenly comes to life in his apartment. The story follows Broadway star Janet Van De Graaff, who plans to give up the stage to marry Robert Martin, while a colorful collection of characters tries to keep the wedding on track—or stop it altogether. Filled with mistaken identities, over-the-top personalities, tap dancing and big production numbers, The Drowsy Chaperone is a fast-paced comedy that celebrates the joy, silliness and magic of musicals.
