Join the Performing Arts Content Team
We’re looking for student content creators to help us capture and share what’s happening across San Marin Performing Arts.
From rehearsals and performances to backstage moments and everyday program life, student creators can help spotlight the people, creativity, and hard work behind our programs. Contribute when your schedule allows by taking photos, recording short videos, editing Reels, suggesting ideas, or helping tell your program’s story.
No professional experience, special equipment, or major time commitment is required. All you need is your phone, your point of view, and an interest in creating.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for students interested in photography, video, Reels, social media, writing, or storytelling.
A choir student might share rehearsal clips or concert highlights. A theater student might capture backstage preparation. A technical theater student might document set construction, lighting, costumes, or crew at work.
You do not have to cover every event or create content every week. The goal is simply to have more students helping us show what is happening across the full Performing Arts program.
What You Might Do
Depending on your interests, you might:
Take photos or short videos at rehearsals, performances, and events
Capture behind-the-scenes moments
Edit Reels or suggest content ideas and trends
Help with captions, interviews, or student spotlights
Build experience in photography, video, editing, and storytelling
Focus on the kind of content you enjoy most and contribute when your schedule allows.
How It Works
Capture moments
Take photos or short videos when something interesting is happening in your program.
Submit your content
Upload your files through the Performing Arts website and include a little context.
We review and post
The social media manager handles final edits, captions, timing, and posting.
Students are not expected to manage the social media account or publish content themselves.

Content Guidelines
Be respectful
Choose photos and videos that make people feel good about being featured. Do not submit anything embarrassing, unkind, overly personal, or likely to make someone uncomfortable.
Ask when needed
Respect anyone who does not want to be photographed or recorded. Make sure photography and video are allowed during the class, rehearsal, performance, or event.
Keep surprises secret
Do not share costumes, sets, casting information, special effects, or other production details before they are approved for public sharing.
Do not interrupt
Content creation should never interfere with rehearsals, classes, performances, backstage work, or audience members.
Protect private spaces
Never take photos or video in dressing rooms, restrooms, or other private areas. Avoid recording private conversations, director notes, conflicts, injuries, or students who are upset.
When in doubt, submit it
You do not have to decide whether something is ready to post. Send it in and let the social media manager review it.
Quick Phone Tips
Clean your camera lens first.
Hold your phone vertically for Reels and Stories.
Capture several short clips instead of one long recording.
Keep your phone as steady as possible.
Move closer instead of using digital zoom.
Look for good lighting.
Capture a mix of wide shots, close-ups, and details.
Leave a few seconds at the beginning and end of each clip.
We prefer short, trimmed clips that highlight the best moments. If you’re unable to edit the video first, reach out for more tips!
Before You Submit
Please include:
The performing arts program
The event or activity
The date
A short description of what is happening
The creator’s name, if credit is requested
Any helpful names or caption ideas
All submissions will be reviewed. Not every photo or video will necessarily be posted.
