Story Ng Performs at the Sara Bareilles Awards
Senior Story Ng represented San Marin High School at the 2026 Sara Bareilles Awards after receiving an Outstanding Lead Actress nomination for her performance as Mimi in Rent: School Edition.
On May 3, 2026, Story Ng took the stage at San Francisco’s historic Orpheum Theatre as a nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress at the second annual Sara Bareilles Awards.
Story earned the nomination for her portrayal of Mimi in Cast A of San Marin Performing Arts’ spring production of Rent: School Edition. She was one of a select group of performers recognized from high school musical theatre programs across Northern California.
The Sara Bareilles Awards celebrate outstanding achievement in high school musical theatre and are part of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards program. Nominees gathered for workshops, auditions, and performances before appearing in the awards ceremony on the Orpheum stage. Winners in the lead performance categories advanced to the Jimmy Awards in New York City.
The atmosphere inside the theatre was electric as Story performed alongside talented young artists from across the region. Her nomination and performance reflected the dedication, artistry, and hard work she brought to the role of Mimi and to the entire production of Rent.
