San Marin Drama Welcomes Actor and Voice Artist Terry McGovern
San Marin High School drama students welcomed Bay Area actor, voice artist, and instructor Terry McGovern to the Emily Gates Performing Arts Center for a special guest workshop.
In May 2026, San Marin drama students had the opportunity to learn from celebrated Bay Area acting instructor, voice artist, and mentor Terry McGovern during a special visit to the Emily Gates Performing Arts Center.
With decades of experience in acting, broadcasting, voice performance, and arts education, McGovern shared stories and insights from his career while encouraging students to develop their own skills and confidence as performers. He is known locally for leading the Marin Actors Workshop and teaching acting throughout the North Bay, including at College of Marin.
McGovern’s on-screen credits span classic and contemporary film, including American Graffiti and Mrs. Doubtfire. He is also widely recognized for his work in animation and voice-over, including voicing Launchpad McQuack in Disney’s DuckTales.
During the session, students learned about the many paths available within the performing arts—from theater and film to broadcasting and voice acting. McGovern also discussed the importance of training, persistence, creativity, and finding an individual voice as a performer.
It was an unforgettable opportunity for San Marin students to learn from one of the Bay Area’s most experienced and inspiring acting instructors.
